Materials That Last Timber Look Aluminium

Timber Look Aluminium

Several years ago, I was introduced to a product that has since provided me and many of our clients much satisfaction. Timber Look Aluminium products have become very popular in recent years and for good reason. As a professional seeking to design and provide products that look good but also offer benefits throughout the building process it’s hard not to love Timber Look Aluminium.

Timber look Aluminium products are great substitutes.

Typically, when buildings are to be dressed in exposed timber features such and columns, screens or cladded walls the obvious choice is to use timber, this provides the desired outcome. However, one main drawback of using timber is upkeep. Timber that is exposed to weather and sun will need to be maintained over the years and in most cases, this will cost time & money. Depending on exactly where your screen or feature is located this could be costly due to requiring high-access equipment.

Timber Look Aluminium products are now readily available as substitutes with powder-coated finishes that replicate hundreds of natural finishes of timbers. Other benefits that we encounter when using Timber Look Aluminiumis the weight of the feature we are installing. The example I’m using in the post is a 50mm batten screen we designed and install for a beautiful home in Mooloolaba, on the Sunshine coast. The owners of this house wanted to bring shade, privacy, and a contemporary design to give their property a makeover with a practical element.

This screen in total was 30 square meters of 50×50 batten with a 25mm spacing. That’s a lot of material. As you could image to do this screen, we need to design a structure that will supports its weight. The added benefit of using Timber Look Aluminiumbattens is that we are using a hollow section of Aluminium which is extremely lightweight. Making not only a leaner-designed support structure but also easier to install. Another benefit of this 2-part system is that every fixing is concealed, completely out of sight and out of the elements. No more ugly screws or rusting fixings to strain your feature. This screen will not warp, bend or twist, and will remain the same as it was the day we installed it, for years to come. With the occasional clean the powder-coated finish will last decades.
